Jim Carlson’s career as a singer songwriter has spanned three decades, several solo releases and a journeyman role as a supporting musician, co-writer and guitarist. His music could be best described as folk rock, blending influences from punk, rock, pop and contemporary folk. His influences range from Social Distortion, U2, James, John Prine, Josh Ritter and more.

This will be Jim’s first show since 2020. As a “Works in Progress” show, expect to hear new and reimagined songs from Jim’s original song catalog.

Special guests (including Paul Connors) are scheduled to appear. This show will be casual, relaxed, informal and interactive. Show starts at 7, ends around 9.

Big Hill Books is an independent bookstore in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood of Minneapolis. Jim’s performance is part of their First Friday Date Night series which is, “a low-key date night.
